Tips on How to Conquer Toy Story Land

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

It can be a little overwhelming and nerve-wracking trying to get everything done in Toy Story Land in one day, especially with attraction wait times of 120 minutes or more. After visiting Disney World this past November and December, I've come up with a list of tips on how to check everything off of your "Toy Story Land To-Do" list without spending the entire day in just this area of Hollywood Studios!

1. Do not go straight to Toy Story Land as soon as Hollywood Studios opens in the morning.

You can convince yourself a million times that no one will be at Hollywood Studios for park open and that the lines for Slinky Dog Dash will be short, but I guarantee that the morning is the absolute worst time to be in Toy Story Land. When I was in Hollywood Studios for park opening in December, I walked onto Tower of Terror while the rest of the park guests waited in line just to enter Toy Story Land. Trust me, you do not want to waste your time trying to get into Toy Story Land first thing in the morning. Instead, take advantage of shorter lines for everything else in Hollywood Studios! Bonus: Toy Story Land looks so much better at night!

2. Get a FastPass for Toy Story Mania.

When the time frame opens up for booking FastPasses, this attraction is always available (unlike Slinky Dog Dash). Get a FastPass for this ride so that you can save about 45 minutes waiting in a standby line.

3. Get a grilled cheese and tomato basil soup at Woody's Lunchbox when you do your Toy Story Mania FastPass.

If you want to try out the new Quick-Service Restaurant in Hollywood Studios, do this after you use your FastPass for Toy Story Mania. If you have a stomach of steel, you can even grab your meal before standing in line for Slinky Dog Dash!

4. Do not wait in a long line for Alien Swirling Saucers.

Unless this is an absolute must for you, don't bother even waiting in line for this ride. I hate spinning rides, so I skip this ride anyway. However, I have heard from multiple people that it's similar to the teacups in Magic Kingdom, which you can wait 5 minutes for. With all of the other fun attractions in Hollywood Studios, I personally don't think it is worth your time to wait for this ride.

5. Get in line for Slinky Dog Dash during Fantasmic! or 5 minutes before Hollywood Studios closes.

\If you have seen Fantasmic! before or will be in Hollywood Studios for more than one night, dedicate one of your nights to stand in line for Slinky Dog Dash. The first time I rode Slinky Dog, I got in line 20 minutes before Fantasmic! and waited about 35 minutes. The second time I rode it, I got in line 1 minute before park close, and I waited about 45 minutes. Choose one of these methods to get onto Slinky Dog, and I guarantee you will make the most of your time in Hollywood Studios and get on Slinky Dog with a minimal wait time.
